Hjördis Genberg, fashion model. 1944-1945

In 1945, Hjördis Genberg was at the height of her success as a fashion model in Sweden, although the term used at the time for her profession was ‘mannequin’, which nowadays only applies to shop display dummies.

After her engagement to Carl Gustaf Tersmeden in January, Hjördis also became a celebrity in her own right. However, in December she set sail for the US to meet up with Carl Gustaf, and left behind her Swedish modelling career for good.

These wonderful photos, many only recently identified as Hjördis, are courtesy of the DigitaltMuseum in Sweden.
